I have a good background in adventure trip leading for other companies, but would like to branch out and start my own business? Any tips or advice on how to get started.

One big thing that you have going for you is that you have had exposure to the job before. Therefore, you have a few business contacts to get started. Do your research and pick up a couple of business books. Also, do alot of research online, it is one of the best resources you can have.
Two of the best books I used were Small Business for Dummies and Guerrilla Marketing.
I would not purchase any other marketing book, since guerrilla marketing tactics deal with smaller budgets, or no budget at all.
