PARANORMAL STATE EVP recording.how?

How is it that on the TV show, Paranormal State, we are watching footage of them recording EVPs – yet when they play their recordings back and hear voices we didn’t hear them when they filmed them making their recordings? The EVP should have also been on the shows production footage as well. Am I right?
In other words, technically, the show’s production equipment should be capturing EVP just as their little palm-sized recorders are capturing EVP!
…unless they’re faking it!

Their little recorders have most likely been set to pick up a lot of white noise, and any speech like sounds can then be amplified to make it sound like a person (or ghost) speaking a word or two although sometimes that needs a fair bit of imagination and people tend to hear what they want or expect to.
