JAMES BOND – Title sequence from Terence Young’s 1962 film “Dr. No”, starring Sean Connery asJames Bond Many of the iconic aspects of a typical James Bond film were established in Dr. No, beginning with what is known as the gun barrel sequence, an introduction to the character through the view of a gun barrel, and a highly stylized main title sequence, both created by Maurice Binder. This had to be the hardest Bond film to make because everyone was flying in the dark. There was no blueprint for style, characterizations, casting, chemistry, music, etc. etc. Turned out to be a way above average film that was very popular worldwide. And with the next films it actually got better.

I like how Saltzman’s and Brocolli’s credits fade in and out, at 2:22, and Young’s name does the same afterwards. Very mysterious even with the 3 blind men’s silhouettes.

They’re highlighting the music from the soundtrack. That’s why the different themes. It was new for movies.

The guy doing the “turn and shoot” is not Sean Connery. It was his stunt double, Bob Simmons. It was also the same for the next three films.

well, first of all that they got like 3 completely different “songs” appearing in the same intro, and have you seen from 2:10 and on? it seems absolutely random with nothing to do with the actual movie.

Have you never seen the movie? The three blind me are assassins of Dr. No. The movie theme segues into the movie’s first scenes.

the three blind men are instrumental in being the first people to do the dirty work for Dr. No….. in other words, despite their appearances, they are total badasses.

surfbug281, you’ve got that right! Connery was the man! His suave and coolness, a strong, masculine facial look and a strong voice made him the best Bond. Moore and Brosnan were too comical. Dalton was cool also and even Desmond Llewellyn, who played Q – God bless him – mentioned Dalton was the closest to the Bond character in Fleming’s books. Lazenby looked too nervous. Craig’s rugged look has enabled him to be physical, which the likes of Moore, would not have been able to accomplish.
